Let me share my experience with you:
When I was starting playing audio, I didnīt see any reason for feeding the 850 from the DSP. It was Mike, WZ5Q, who told me that the internal amp of the 850 rolls of the lows etc. So I decided to give it a try.
Since Jensen transformers are not available in Germany (at least I didnīt find it anywhere) I decided to order a Neutrik NTL4. When it arrived, I wanted to do a sweep befor modding my DSP so I connected it to my PC and tried to sweep with the well known program. I was really confused when there was no output at the xformer.. After some measurements I found out that the xformer must be broken
So what to do now? I was really excited to get the direct feed running now and couldnīt wait any longer. So I drilled in the XLR connector. I made the connection with a couple capacitor. When I turned the device back on, I was really surprised. The sound changed dramatically. Without EQing there was ways too much bass in the boomy area. As soon as lowered the bass I was really delighted: There was much more clarity in the high area. The output from the monitor came in so smooth, no crisping, what I used to have when feeding from the back of the 850. I sure sstill have to play with the couple cīs value an do measurements. Right now I think of leaving the DSP without xformer since it works well for me. Didnīt check all the bands but while testing on 10m, everything was clean as usual.
When I finished my experience, I will post what I have done here.
All you people out there with the DSP but WITHOUT direct feed: mod it or you wonīt sound good!

I got a new Neutrik NTL4 transformer now and it seems to work well.. My RFI on 80m is gone now, so it helped to fight against that. The sound is great. Seems like the Neutrik doesnīt roll off too much lows. It fits fine anywhere in the DSP100. I prefered to move it away from the powersupply.. Donīt know why, just like it better. I will do a description how I soldered things together if anyone wants to do it the same way. It will be found in the article-section later on. Also sweeps will follow but I donīt have a flat receiver at hand actually.
Take care,
Andy
